Talk from the local net-Disaster timeline:
- Sun. Oct. 15, 2006 12:27 pm: Kenmore has more generators per capita than anywhere else in the world. This whole power outage wouldn't be so bad, if it wasn't for bullshit generators. Damn things ruin the peace and quiet. We are Sitting around playing Trivial Pursuit drinking beer and all you can hear is the blaring engine next door, all so the fat scum can watch TV. I think I am going to go smash it.
- Sun. Oct. 15, 2006 12:38 pm: I shouldnt complain since I have power. But my work and my parents house -both less then 2 miles away dont. looks like Ill be holding those drummer audtions in my living room
- Sun. Oct. 15, 2006 12:46 pm: Why does this stuff always gotta happen in buffalo? Its always some freak of nature weather. its always this big extravagant event. Never some run of the mill thing. As I watched the strom from my porch, I was shaking my head just thinking - here we go again. Lake effect snow sucks sucks sucks.
- Sun. Oct. 15, 2006 11:03 pm: Power back in La Nova hood area, west side Buffalo, as of 3pm today (Sunday). Lost power overnight on Thursday->Friday, huddled in our heatless no electric house until Saturday eve., then scoped out my mom's house in Black Rock and discovered they had power again, so we moved the farm over there. I got up around 9am Friday and went to Target on Elmwood and got the last of the D batteries and the last lantern! Craziness, people go nuts when this stuff happens. Glad to see all of us have our emergency preparedness kit for when N. Korea bombs us though, we can't even survive a couple days without electric!
- Mon. Oct. 16, 2006 2:14 am: I was actually doing ok with it...i was kicking into caveman mode earlier tonight. when the lights went on in the dining room i was in a backroom in the dark and actually thought the crib had caught fire! jumped up before i realized the clocks were blinking. good times. among my survivalist lifesavers was the 42 year old stovetop Corningware Percolator mum loaned me. thing makes a kickass pot of coffee, to boot.
- Mon. Oct. 16, 2006 7:35 am: I'm telling ya, I am digging this power outage tip, if it wasn't for the generators of course. I am going to kill her soon... I hear that droning even now while I am at work... it must stop.....
